Korolev (Moscow region)., April 2 – RIA Novosti. The second transport spacecraft new series “Progress MS-02″ on the first try docked with the International Space Station (ISS) in the automatic mode, told RIA news from Moscow Mission Control Center (MCC).

The space truck “Progress MS-02.” which is delivered to the ISS more than 2.5 tons of various goods, including fuel, air, food, equipment to maintain the functioning of the station and parcels for the crew members, was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome using rocket “Soyuz-2.1a” March 31 .
Mooring new “Progress” to the service module of the service module “Zvezda” took place in the automatic mode, under the control of the main operational specialists ISS Russian segment of the control group at MCC and Russian crew members of the space station – Yuri Malenchenko and Alexei Ovchinin.
Before departure into orbit Malenchenko passed on “excellent” exam in manual berthing cargo ship station of the new series “Progress MS.” The test was conducted on a special simulator “cameraman”. According to the astronaut, “simulator accurately models the behavior of real objects in space”.
The skills Malenchenko already applied December 15, 2015, when the third time in his career docked manned spacecraft “Soyuz TMA-19″ with the ISS in manual mode due to the failure of automation.
The transport ship the new modification of “Progress MS” created RKK “Energy” as a result of deep modernization of the series “Progress M”. Most of the technical solutions embodied in the design of “Advance MS” will subsequently be used to create a new generation of manned transport spacecraft.
