Hyper-fast double star discovered by astronomers – REGNUM

Berlin, April 14, 2016, 10:46 – REGNUM German astronomers from the University of Erlangen in Nuremberg discovered a double star, moving away at high speed from our Milky Way galaxy, portal Phys.org reported.

it was previously thought that this object is a common single bullet star, which in the Milky Way there are more than ten units. But the object of our galaxy is unique. Examine it managed with the help of the Chilean Observatory Very Large Telescope and observatories Maunakea in Hawaii.

superspeed double star system was designated PB3877. It is located at a distance of 18 thousand light years from Earth. It is already known that the smaller of the pair of stars five times hotter than the sun and a great star cooler than our star a thousand times.

It is still unclear, which gives the system PB3877 acceleration with which it moves away from the Milky Way. Previously it was thought that all the stars get high-speed acceleration from a supermassive black hole located in the center of the Milky Way. Recently it was found out that the PB3877 system does not depend on the central part of our galaxy. Scientists can not yet explain this fact.
