Scientists reported benefits of mountain air – REGNUM

Washington, 17 October 2016, 13:42 — REGNUM researchers from the University of Colorado in the USA have studied the mechanism of adaptation to oxygen starvation, which occurs high in the mountains. Scientists came to the conclusion that as a result the person gets endurance, which persists for several months, their paper published in the Journal of Proteome Research.

Previously it was thought that breathing problems and weakness that occurs in the highlands, due to the need of the body to restore the red blood cells in conditions of low oxygen content. However, the recovery of red blood cells requires time, while the climbers adapt to high altitude for several days.
