Roskomnadzor demanded to block LinkedIn Lenta.ru

the Federal service for supervision in the sphere of Telecom, information technologies and mass communications (Roskomnadzor) intends to restrict access to the largest business social network LinkedIn. According to “Kommersant”, the corresponding requirement Tagansky court of Moscow granted in August, but the decision has not yet entered into force.

In Roskomnadzor believe that LinkedIn violates the law “On personal data”, as it is not moved the servers to Russia, and also collects and transmits information about citizens who are not network users, without their consent. The Ministry clarified that the violations of law identified during the inspection which started in publications in the media about the repeated leaks of user data the business social network.

“We have twice sent LinkedIn requests to give information on implementation of the law on the localization databases in Russia”, — said “news” the official representative of Roscomnadzor Vadim Ampelonskiy. According to him, these letters went unheeded.

amendments to the laws “On personal data” and “On information, information technologies and protection of information” came into force on 1 September 2015. The new rules require the operator to provide recording, systematization, accumulation, storage, updating, retrieval of personal data of Russian citizens using databases located on the territory of the country.

Resources companies whose policy for the storage and processing of such information will not meet the new requirements of the law, Roskomnadzor will make in a special register, and they can be blocked by the court. In July 2015, President Vladimir Putin instructed to consider the mitigating provisions of the amendments.

LinkedIn is the world’s largest social network for networking and job search. As of 2015 the total number of registered participants has exceeded 400 million people, including the Russian segment accounted for $ 5 million.
