“Proton-M” orbited Turkish satellite Turksat-4B – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, October 17 – RIA Novosti. Carrier rocket “Proton-M” led Turkish communication satellite Turksat-4B into geostationary orbit, told RIA Novosti on Saturday representative of the Russian Space Agency.

The new device will provide the services of broadcasting and broadband services in Turkey, Europe, Central Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Turksat-4B will be positioned in geostationary orbit at distances of 50 degrees east longitude.

The current launch of “Proton” – the third after the accident, which occurred May 16, 2015. Then it faded Mexican MexSat-1 satellite. Recognized cause of the accident was the failure of the steering motor stage III due to increased vibronagruzok, increased steering motor rotor imbalance associated with degradation of its material properties under high temperatures and imperfection balancing scheme. In the future launch vehicle took place in normal mode: August 28, “Proton” orbited the British spacecraft Inmarsat -5F3, and on September 15 – a Russian communications satellite “Express AM8″.
