A giant asteroid will approach the Earth in Halloween – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, October 20 – RIA Novosti. NASA specialists discovered a giant asteroid that 31 October will approach Earth at a record close in nine years away. The speed of a celestial body is 35 kilometers per second, which is uncharacteristically high rate, according to the agency.

The object, dubbed 2015 TB145, will take place on our planet at a distance of 499,000 kilometers, equivalent to 1.3 of the distance from the Earth to the Moon. Researchers estimate that the diameter of the asteroid can be from 280 to 620 meters, reports British newspaper The Mirror. The publication notes that according to the forecasts of scientists celestial body in 2015 TB145 is not a danger to Earth.

The last time a similar astronomical object flying in the vicinity of the Earth at a distance of 1.1 from the Earth to the Moon in 2006. The next approach to Earth asteroid of this size will take place in August 2027, said NASA.
