Reconnaissance satellite was launched from the California coast – InFuture.ru – Feel the future!

American reconnaissance satellite was launched from the central coast of California after weather delays caused by a major storm.

Unmanned Atlas V rocket sent into orbit a secret satellite for the National Reconnaissance Office, starting from Vandenberg Air Force Base at 3:19 Saturday and illuminating the dark, cloudy sky.

The storm that brought rain, heavy clouds and gusty winds to California, has postponed the launch from Thursday to Saturday. The storm left the region on Friday evening, providing the right weather to start.

“The hard work and dedication of all parties to continue to provide access to space in our country,” said Colonel Keith Bates, commander of the 30th Space Wing Air Force. “This was especially evident in our database electricians who worked tirelessly, despite the extreme weather conditions last night to provide sufficient power to run”.

The mission is classified as ordered for reasons of national security, so no details about setting the satellite were not disclosed.
