Scientists call unexpected cause of insomnia.

Perfectionism in conjunction with increased anxiety can deprive a person of the ability to fully relax at night. To such conclusion scientists from the Center for neuroeconomics and cognitive studies, as well as Northumbria and Oxford universities (UK), the press service of the Russian University.

Another, but only the outward manifestation of this character – criticism on the part of parents. These phenomena are often accompanied by anxiety, which serves as a link between insomnia and perfectionism.

to Confirm this thesis failed in the experiment, which was attended by 78 volunteers aged 18 to 27 years. Half of the subjects had no problems with sleep, and the second suffered from insomnia, the duration of which ranged from 3 months to 10 years.

One of the objectives of the study was to test the relationship between quality of sleep and factors associated with perfectionism. Therefore, the participants were asked to go through several surveys that reveal the level of commitment to excellence and the degree of sleep disorders, anxiety and depression.

Scientists have found that the last factor, unlike anxiety, is not as detrimental to the ability of the family to quiet sleep. However, to say for sure about the nature of the relationship of these phenomena, more research is needed.

scientists Perfectionism was measured using two instruments – test and frost’s multidimensional scale of Hewitt and Flett. The first is a questionnaire, which focuses on measuring six dimensions of perfectionism: personal standards, concern over mistakes, doubt their actions, parental expectations, parental criticism, organization.

Multidimensional scale of Hewitt and Flett aims to measure makeovers on three levels: focused on others, focused on themselves and socially prescribed perfectionism. In the latter case we are talking about the belief that others impose unrealistic requirements that difficult, but you must meet in order to obtain approval.
