NASA revealed unique color photos of Pluto and Charon – Commander

The US space agency NASA has published on its official web-site of the first in the history of space research color photos of Pluto and Charon, its largest moon. While the image quality is not perfect double planet, astronomers believe their breakthrough in the study of celestial bodies in our system.

The video was made from images taken in the period from 29 May to 3 June. NASA experts point out that even such a low quality recording lets you see that Pluto and Charon have different colors.

«fascinating to see Pluto and Charon in motion and in color. Even with such a low resolution it is clear that Pluto and Charon have different colors – beige and orange Pluto and Charon – gray. Actually, why they are so different, and is a subject of debate, “- said the representative of the New Horizons mission, Alan Stern.

Prior to this, experts have managed to prove that the majority of Pluto’s move no particular order, that is chaotic. This was done with the help of a powerful telescope Hubble.

New Horizons is the first mission to Pluto and the Kuiper Belt. During its initial phase, scientists have planned to explore the surface and atmosphere of Pluto and all of its natural satellites. Until the mid-2020s planned a more detailed study of the bodies of the Kuiper Belt, which consists of material formation of the solar system. At a time when the spacecraft to Pluto closer to the maximum distance, but it will happen in July, it will show the world with its mountains and valleys, volcanoes. New Horizons was launched in 2006 and is one of the most anticipated space mission in 2015.

Let’s remind, that Pluto is the mysterious dwarf planet in the Solar System. At the moment, it flies to the US avtomtizirovannaya Station New Horizons. Scientists believe high expectations for the work of the unit and plan to get a lot of interesting information on Pluto and its moon. The shortest distance between Pluto and the New Horizons reached July 14.
