NSU entered the first hundred in the international ranking of universities Times Higher Education in Physics – Interfax Russia

Novosibirsk. October 2nd. Interfax-Siberia – Novosibirsk State University (NSU) took 85th place among the world’s top hundred universities in physics at the prestigious ranking of the magazine Times Higher Education (THE), the press service of the NSU.

In the overall ranking THE Novosibirsk State University for the first time entered the top 400 in the group, located at positions 301 to 350 th.

In the ranking for physics NSU overtaken, in particular, the University of Davis, who is part of the University of California ( USA).

“Entering the rating THE – is the fruit of the work of the entire team of the University under the program” Top 100. “Russian universities are lagging behind in the ratings by quoting articles. During the last year at NSU very much has been done to improve scientometric indicators, namely, the establishment of joint laboratories with the institutions of the Novosibirsk Scientific Center, “- said the rector of NSU Michael Fedoruk was quoted as saying in a statement.

In addition to the overall rating of the NSU THE Russian university got only Moscow State University, which ranked 196 th in the field of physics it takes 56 place in the “Technology” -66 th.

The best university in the world, according to the rating, became the California University of Technology, in the second place – Harvard University, closes the top three University of Oxford.

Rating of the best universities in the world (THE World University Rankings) – a global study of best universities of world significance, calculated by the method of the British edition of Times Higher Education with the assistance of the information group Thomson Reuters.

rating is based on 13 indicators grouped in five categories: education, scientific research, citation, internationalization, to raise funds from industry (innovation).

It is considered one of the the most influential global university rankings along with QS World University Rankings version of the British consulting company Quacquarelli Symonds (in this ranking NSU in 2014 rose to 24 positions and took 328 place).

As reported in 2013 was conducted open tender for the provision of state support for the leading Russian universities in order to improve their competitiveness among the world’s leading research and education centers and getting into the top 100 of the world rankings.

As a result of this competition, the winners of the 15 universities, including NSU was provided state support. Amount of subsidy allocated from the federal budget NSU in 2013 amounted to 592.4 million rubles, in 2014 – 775 million rubles.
