Two American citizen and a German citizen, received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for working on an optical microscope. Their work helped more detailed study of the molecules and their behavior.

The fact that Eric Betzig, Stephen W. Hall and William E. Moener have won the Nobel Prize, said the members of the Committee.

The main contribution of chemists that they have changed the preconceived ideas of the world about the possibilities of an optical microscope. In 1873, scientists decided that they got the most out of a magnifying device, and a better microscope image can not give in principle.

But the trio of scientists have proven that it is not.

“Through their achievements optical microscope can now join the world of nanotechnology,” – stated the members of the committee.

This achievement can not be overstated. Now scientists can study in detail how to divide the proteins in the fertilized egg, gradually turning into an embryo; or what happens to the proteins in the event of illness Altseymera, Parkinson’s.
