The new substance called Crystal Aquaman (Aquaman Crystal), synthesized by researchers from the University of Southern Denmark, will allow divers to dive without the traditional oxygen cylinders.
The basis of this substance was – organically bound cobalt. As stated researchers resulting material allows to accumulate up to 160 times more oxygen than is found in the ambient atmosphere. For diving enough of one teaspoon of the substance, which will contain the same amount of oxygen in a midsized apartment. Oxygen is released as needed for a long time.
Using the new material is not limited to diving – it can be used in medicine, for example, for the manufacture of breathing apparatus for patients with oxygen deficiency.
