Scientists have discovered a new human body that relates to the digestive system.
Known as the mesentery, an organ previously considered to be composed of disparate and heterogeneous formations. The researchers found, however, that the mesentery — one holistic body and presented evidence of this in the report, published in the journal The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology.

“In a study that has passed peer review and has been peer reviewed, we’re talking about the organ in our bodies which was not recognized as such until the last moment,” says George. Calvin Coffey, a researcher from the University hospital Limerick in Ireland, the first who made a discovery.
Mesentery double fold of peritoneum that lines the abdominal cavity. It connects the intestine with the stomach.
Although the function of the mesentery is still unknown, the study of it as the body can lead to discoveries about her impact on diseases of the abdominal organs.
“When we consider her like any other organ… we can categorize the disease of the abdominal organs on this body,” explains Coffey.
