Putin will take part in the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society – RBC

Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to take part in an expedition of the Russian Geographical Society. The journalists said the press secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, it will happen before the end of August.

Russian Geographical Society (RGS) was founded by the decree of Emperor Nicholas I 1845. RGS is one of the oldest geographical societies in the world. Its regional offices operate in 85 regions of Russia. Since 2009, the president takes the RGS Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, and the board of trustees of the society since 2010 is headed by Putin.

Prior to that, Putin has taken part in expeditions RGS. July 15, 2013 the head of state made a dive to a place of destruction sailing screw Baltic Fleet frigate “Oleg”, which sank in 1869, between the islands of Hogland and Sommers.

In August 2011, Putin sank to the bottom of the Taman Gulf. Then, at a depth of 2 meters he found two amphorae.
