Media: Roscosmos ISS cut funding by 30 billion rubles – RIA Novosti

MOSCOW, January 11 – RIA Novosti. “Roskosmos” in the draft of the Federal Space Program for 2016-2025 years (PCF) has reduced the cost of operating the International Space Station (ISS) by almost 30 billion rubles ( about $ 400 million), or about 10%, the newspaper “Izvestia” on Monday.

It is reported that in the direction of coordination in the Ministry of the final version of the French Communist Party to control the flight of the ISS, the logistics and transportation services Russian segment of the station and for the program of scientific experiments provided 252 billion rubles for ten years (another 12.6 billion rubles is planned to attract extra-budgetary resources). The previous version of the PCF provides funding in the amount of ISS 281.4 billion rubles.

In May 2014 Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that Russia sees no point in extending participation in the ISS program after 2020, but does not intend to withdraw from projects before that date. According to him, funding of participation in the ISS program covers more than 30% of the budget, “Roskosmos”. He also explained that the agreement on cooperation on the ISS between Russia and the United States concluded until 2024, but Russia does not need such a long continuation of this project.

As previously stated the head of “Roskosmos” Igor Komarov, the priorities of the updated PCF – the development and maintenance of orbital groupings communication relay and broadcasting, remote sensing, launch vehicles, and hold leading positions in Russia in the world market of space launches, the appropriate space infrastructure, as well as the fundamental space research, including a study of the moon with the help of machines and the creation of a reserve for the future for manned flight around the moon in the framework of international cooperation.
