From January 25, “Skartel” (“daughter” of “MegaFon”, renders services under brand Yota) will change the tariffs for smartphones. Instead, they will be package offers with the ability to use specific applications without traffic limitation, for example the major social networks and messengers. In the future, “Skartel” plans to allow the users to choose the applications whose traffic will not be subject to limitation.

the setting of new tariffs, including what would be the limit of Internet traffic, “Skartel” plans to announce on January 17. Dobrynin said that the rejection of the unlimited Internet will allow the company to offer subscribers cheaper rates. He noted that the average subscriber consumes about 5 GB of traffic and unlimited Internet it is, in fact, not needed. Dobrynin sure that over time all operators will abandon unlimited tariffs.

For tablets the rates will not change. Users connected rates of Skartel for smartphones up to 25 January, will be able to continue to use the Internet unlimited traffic.

still unlimited tariffs for mobile Internet was a hallmark of Skartel. For example, in Moscow and the Moscow region the cost of services ranges from 490 to 1890 RUB per month depending on the number of minutes of calls (300-3000).

Other operators also oppose tariffs with unlimited Internet. “The market should move in the direction of virtually free voice services and SMS, and several variants of tariffs for mobile Internet. Quite rationally, that anyone can download 60-70 GB to load the network, while the use of cheap unlimited or nearly unlimited plans. This is a question that needs to be addressed across the industry. If nothing will change in the long-term capital costs will be unaffordable,” — said in an interview with RBC General Director of “VimpelCom” Kjell-Morten Johnsen.
