One of the best in the world make a special imaging coil, electronic part which receives a signal during scanning of the patient, it quickly digitizes and for a few minutes sends to the computer ready image. “Normal” scanners, according to experts, act in a different way: the RF signal is transmitted to the computer and processed in another room. “Along the way” to the signal is added noise, which is subsequently very difficult to remove. The new signal immediately becomes clean, transfer “Novosibirsk news” referring to the senior researcher, ITC SB RAS Andrew Savelova. Another difference tomograph from the less sophisticated is that it allows to obtain an image with higher resolution.
During testing of the imager experts asked the man to imagine that his hand is compressed, and the scanner was able to capture what signals corresponded to this idea. The specialists say that the activation is more extensive in the case that a person imagines the movement, but does not produce it directly. Anyway, the scanner in this case, according to experts, gives a vivid picture of the thoughts of the patient.
in 2017, experts plan to begin using the scanner for examination of patients. Also new equipment will be used while conducting fundamental research.
