“Roskosmos” is intended to significantly reduce the cost of servicing the International Space Station (ISS). According to Russian press reports, this is due to budget cuts by the Federal Space Program and the market value of currencies. The reduction will affect mainly manned flights.
According to the newspaper “Izvestia”, “Roskosmos” in the draft of the Federal Space Program for 2016-2025 years (FKP) reduced operating costs ISS by about 10% – almost 30 billion rubles (400 million dollars).
According to the publication, in the direction of coordination in the Ministry of the final version of the French Communist Party to control the flight of ISS logistics and Transportation of the Russian segment of the station and for the program of scientific experiments provided 252 billion rubles for ten years (another 12.6 billion rubles is planned to attract extra-budgetary resources). The previous version of the PCF provides funding in the amount of ISS 281.4 billion rubles.
Recall that in May 2014 Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that Russia sees no point in extending participation in the ISS program after 2020, but not going out of the project before that date. According to him, the financing of the program covers more than 30% of the budget, “Roskosmos”. He also explained that the agreement on cooperation on the ISS between Russia and the United States concluded until 2024, but our country does not need such a long project.
As previously stated the head of “Roskosmos” Igor Komarov, the priorities of the updated PCF – development and maintenance of orbital groupings communication relay and broadcasting, remote sensing, launch vehicles, and hold leading positions in Russia in the world market of space launches, the appropriate space infrastructure, as well as the fundamental space research, including the Moon – with the help of machines, and the creation of groundwork for the future of manned flyby of the satellite in the framework of international cooperation.
