In the US, testing the spacecraft for a soft landing on Mars have failed – BFM.Ru

Parachute worked correctly and not fully disclosed

The tests of the spacecraft for a soft landing on Mars, known as the “flying saucer”, ended in failure, reports Tass.

This was stated by representatives from NASA. The parachute, which was to ensure smooth splashdown machine worked properly and is not fully disclosed.

A similar situation occurred during the first test of “flying saucer” June 28, 2014. Then the parachute opened and not to the end, it did not sufficiently reduce speed. Because of this, the unit is heavily hit the water surface.

The tests were conducted in accordance with the program developed by NASA, the purpose of which – starting in 2035 manned spacecraft to Mars, followed by the landing of astronauts.

“flying saucer” is attached to the spacecraft to ensure its deceleration in the rarefied Martian atmosphere and a soft landing on the surface of the Red Planet.
