The Russians have discovered a serious problem in the iPhone.

the Operating system of new generation iOS 10 contains a vulnerability that allows attackers to easily crack the iPhone backup, gaining access to personal data of their owners. A bug in the protection system have been discovered by specialists of the Russian software company Elcomsoft.

According to experts, they managed to create a tool that allows to bypass the security check using the conventional method of brute force (the so-called brute force, in translation from English – “brute force”). Thus, breaking local backup copy of data on a smartphone or tablet made with the help of iOS 10, goes to 2500 times less time than on access to information, which was encrypted by means of iOS 9.

according to the Elcomsoft, in the case of iOS 9, a special program could iterate through 150 thousand passwords per second. When it comes to the tenth version of the mobile OSes, the speed of selection of passwords grows to six million of the passwords, i.e. the time for selection is spent much less.

In the Apple, according to Forbes, are aware of the existence of the problem and fix it in the next security update. Company representatives also noted that the issue does not affect the backup data saved in iCloud.
