Scientists have found that industrial air pollution leads to the accumulation in the brain of human magnetite particles that can provoke a variety of diseases. On this, they reported in an article in the journal PNAS . 25 years ago in the human brain small magnetite particles were first found, but until recently it was believed that they are of natural origin.

Barbara Maher of the Lancaster University took samples from the frontal cortex tissues 37 dead people and found them magnetite particle diameter to 150 nanometers. They have round shape in contrast to the tetrahedral or octahedral, which are particles of biological origin, in addition, analogous particles of platinum, nickel and cobalt have been found, which themselves are never formed in the brain.

On the contrary, they are melted surface and form specified exactly the fact that such particles are ejected from the combustion of various commercially types of fuel, and also in frictional heating (friction), such as a brake disk. It has been proved that such particles can cause the development of Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diseases
