WASHINGTON, March 26 – RIA Novosti The ISS crew will receive Saturday, 3.5 tons of cargo to Earth after docking with the start in the American cargo ship Wednesday Cygnus, NASA reported.

Cygnus was launched to the ISS from Baikonur at Cape Canaveral on Wednesday, March 23 by a rocket Atlas V. According to calculation NASA, the machine reaches the station about 13 MSK.

Capture Cygnus will carry 47 crew commander, Tim Kopra and ESA astronaut flight engineer Tim Peak. The ship will remain in orbit until May.

In addition to food and essential items for the crew cargo ship will deliver to orbit Meteor device for studying the chemical composition of meteors, more than 20 small satellites, 3D printer, suit for future output in the open space, as well as the cylinders with air refueling station air supply system.

as usual, after the arrival of the ship in orbit, the crew will unload it. However, part of the cargo at this time will be on board the ship: it is an experiment Saffire-I, designed for the study of fire behavior in space

Saffire-1 will be activated from the ground after the truck leaves the station and. depart to a safe distance from it. After activating the tool in the Cygnus, as promised by NASA, it will make a “big fire” and all the data will be transmitted to Earth for processing. Scientists have calculated that on the basis it has received the data will be able to study the behavior of fire in microgravity, and then apply this knowledge to develop ways of fighting fires during long-term space flight.

Cygnus owned by Orbital ATK, deliver cargo to the ISS under contract with NASA. This is the sixth mission of the station under the contract.
