Indian spacecraft reached Mars for the first time – BBC Russian

Indian scientists reported that the automatic interplanetary station “Mangalyaan” reached Mars, becoming the first spacecraft from India to successfully reach the red planet.

At a cost of 75 million dollars, “Mangalyaan” – and even the cheapest of all the space probe launched recently.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the mission control center in Bangalore where experts greeted the news of the arrival on Mars apparatus applause.

Road station to the neighboring planet took 10 months, and now its engine slowed from Earth.

Modi said that Delhi is ready to dramatically increase the speed of the Indian space program, investing in infrastructure and technology.

On the eve of NASA’s “Maeve” also entered the Martian atmosphere, but its launch cost the United States is 10 times more expensive than the “Mangalyaan”.
