Indian communication satellite GSAT-18 successfully launched from Kourou – TASS

NEW DELHI, 6 Oct. /Offset. Eugene Karmalito TASS/. Indian geostationary telecommunications satellite GSAT-18 successfully launched from Kourou in French Guiana launch vehicle Ariane 5. This was announced on Thursday, the head of the Indian space research organization (ISRO) Kiran Kumar.

the Satellite, built by ISRO on the basis of the Indian space platform I-3K. The power supply is with two wings of solar panels with a total span of more than 15 meters. Launch mass of the satellite is 3404 lbs. the Expected lifetime is 15 years.

Kiran Kumar also announced the upcoming early next year launch from Kourou two satellites GSAT-17 and GSAT-11. “Work on them is in an advanced stage, he said. Both of these upcoming launch is crucial for India’s space programme”.
