The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill spoke by video link with the astronauts, who is currently on the ISS. He congratulated them a happy Easter and Cosmonautics Day, which this year celebrates in one day.

According to the Patriarch, in space and spiritual life have something in common, namely the desire upward to the stars.
Separately, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church appealed to the American astronauts, noting that international crews perform an important peacekeeping mission.
The astronauts also did not remain in debt. On the occasion on video they came in red T-shirts and asked the Patriarch to pray for the successful completion of their space mission.
It should be noted that the video from the ISS was first organized right from the Cathedral of Christ the Savior. Up to this point, Patriarch congratulated the astronauts with the main Orthodox holidays Christmas and Easter only by phone.
On board the ISS flight program 43 minutes long expedition carry Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka, Mikhail Kornienko, Anton Shkaplerov and astronauts Terry Vёrts, Scott Kelly and Samantha Cristoforetti.
