New data on Intel processors Coffee Lake – 3DNews

after About a month and a half, at CES 2017, Intel will present new desktop processors Core i3/i5/i7-7000 (Kaby Lake), and productive mobile chips Kaby Lake-H. How did you find the resource BenchLife, in February-April 2018 they will be replaced by a more advanced CPU Coffee Lake Coffee Lake and S-H belonging to the eighth generation of Intel Core processors. Almost at the same time they will debut an economical Quad-core SoC family Coffee Lake-U with integrated graphics GT3e (Intel Iris Pro combined with the eDRAM memory).

For the production of CPU and SoC chip maker Coffee Lake is going to use a 14-nanometer process technology, which was taken into service in the production of chips Broadwell-Y for economical platforms (release models Core M-5Y10, Core M-5Y10a and Core M-5Y70 was held in September 2014).

In accordance with the information of the Chinese colleagues, first, in February 2018, will see light desktop processors Coffee Lake-S, which is 4-6 compute (x86-64) cores and graphics core GT2, similar to those that will be involved in CPU Kaby Lake-S. According to preliminary data, the area of crystal Quad core will be equal to 126 mm2, six-core — 149 mm2.

In March 2018 will be presented to productive SoC Coffee Lake-U in “exotic” configuration with four x86-64 cores, GT3e graphics core and 128 MB buffer memory eDRAM. The area of the chip top Coffee Lake-U will be 185 mm2. In April 2018 partners will be offered six-core Intel processors Coffee Lake-H for laptops — more economical and, apparently, less productive counterparts Coffee table Lake-S with the same number of cores and graphics GT2. Of these variations the CPU Coffee Lake only models with the suffix S will be fulfilled in konstruktive LGA, and the other two in the BGA.

In the above table BenchLife.info also includes Quad-core processors Kaby Lake-R for desktop, related desktop Core i3/i5/i7-7000 (but in BGA layout), and six-core chips Coffee Lake-X for HEDT platform LGA2066. The latter will be made in the form of crystals with an area of 149 mm2 and will contain an integrated graphics core GT2.

Returning to the processors Coffee Lake Coffee Lake and S-H, we note that they are associated with Intel’s 300 Series. In BenchLife believe that the new chipsets will carry a code name Cannon Lake, although it’s hard to believe because it is consonant with Cannonlake — the name of a family of 10-nm processors, which will debut after the Coffee Lake.

the image whose quality is poor, you can discern that the chip Intel 300 Series will contain six channels of USB 3.1 and will be able to work with multiple M. 2 SSD. Themselves CPU Coffee Lake-S/H will get dual-channel memory controller DDR4.
