Australian scientists first discovered in sharks individual character traits. This was reported in the journal Journal of Fish Biology.
By studying the fish found off the east coast of Australia, biologists have discovered that sharks are clear and sustainable response to the unfamiliar environment and stress. According to them, it is stable and predictable behavioral responses, and determines the nature of the living being.
To determine the level of courage of individuals (their propensity to take risks) scientists have developed a special experiments. First, sharks have moved into a new aquarium and estimate how long each individual will it take to get out of the “house” (a special asylum) and look at the new environment. In the second experiment, the shark grabbed and tried to get to the land, and then again thrown into the aquarium and watch how quickly they come to life.
It turned out that in the course of the experiments the behavior of each animal was about the same. That is, some sharks behaved braver than the others
