Researchers at the Stockholm Environment Institute conducted a study in which talked about the non-compliance of Russia and the Ukraine of the Kyoto Protocol.
The professionals are convinced that the failure to observe the rules of the agreement nullified all efforts of the international community to regulate greenhouse gases and act on climate change.
The study was conducted at the University of Stockholm Environment.
According to the data released by Swedish scientists, Ukraine and Russia cut industrial emissions at its own plants (mainly coal, oil and gas ) enough to give, at the same time, large amounts of funds to reduce these emissions. As a result, the EU had the opportunity to work out 400 million tons of carbon dioxide, to prevent environmental disaster. The member countries of the Protocol have pledged to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
The study found that the most accurate among the countries that have committed themselves to the scale of the Kyoto Protocol, are Poland and Germany.
The primary reason for non-compliance with the Kyoto agreement by both countries, experts call the lack of control by outside observers. In case of extension of the agreement, the parties concerned need to create mechanisms to control greenhouse gas emission reductions participants who trade their quotas, the scientists explain. Also, it is assumed emissions trading emissions.
Ukraine and the Russian Federation continuously violate the conditions of the Kyoto Protocol than only worsen the situation with global warming on the planet. US signed the protocol, but has not yet ratified it.
