Sensation! Birds feel the approach of tornadoes and natural disasters – Softcraze

Tornado During the observation of the behavior of birds, scientists from the University of California concluded that the birds feel the approach of various natural disasters, a day before the approaching cyclone they leave their nests and can fly long distances, that would not get in the zone of negative phenomena arising.

Many scientists have long interested in the question, how do you manage to escape the birds during various natural disasters – hurricanes, tornadoes, rain, floods. Here and American scientists are also interested in this issue. Scientists from the University of California at Berkeley, conducted a study in which they observed the behavior zolotokrylyh Vermivora – a small singing birds that live in Central and North America. According to the observations of researchers birds sense the approach of tornadoes and cyclones, last year they left their homes 24 hours before approaching a huge cyclone, which brought 84 tornadoes and because of which killed 35 people.
Henry Strabo one of the researchers described how that the main objective of the study was to determine whether the birds carry small geolokatory. As a result of the study, researchers found that the birds can not only wear geolokatory but the day before approaching natural disasters fly away from the ir homes and fly for several days long distances, they flew 1500 km in five days, that would not fall into the range of the cyclone .
According to Henry Strabo, the birds begin to leave their nests, when scientists have only begun to notice the first signs of an approaching cyclone. Birds ieyut to perceive infrasound waves that people can not hear.
Scientists hope that by observing the behavior of birds will be able to more accurately predict the variety of natural disasters and to avoid casualties.
The study was published in the journal Current Biology.
