The first launch after the accident “Progress” was successful – 3DNews

Federal Space Agency said the successful launch of the carrier rocket “Soyuz-U” with transport cargo vehicle “Progress M-28M”. The launch took place on July 3 at 07:55 MSK from the launch pad Baikonur Cosmodrome 1. At 08:04 MSK “space truck” “Progress M-28M” cleanly separated from the third stage of the launch vehicle on the calculated orbit. Docking of “Progress” with the International Space Station (ISS) is scheduled for July 5 at 10:13 MSK.

On board the “progress” is 2381 kg of cargo, including oxygen, fuel, equipment for scientific experiments, expendables and containers with food and water, parcels for the ISS crew.

The previous launch of “progress” was unsuccessful. Branch ship from the third stage of the launch vehicle took place on schedule, but the ship was in an uncontrollable spin and was on neraschёtnoy orbit. Attempts to bring the situation under control or to no avail, and finally, “Progress M-27M” ceased to exist after the entry into the dense layers of the atmosphere over the Pacific Ocean.

It should be noted that the launch of “progress” with the load is very important for the further implementation of the program of work of the ISS, as an attempt to deliver food and oxygen, as well as equipment to the station by a truck Dragon also ended in failure due to the explosion of the launch vehicle SpaceX Falcon 9, aboard which he was.
