Earlier, in 2013 the United States successfully tested the plane X-51, the rate is five times the speed of sound. Its development was carried out since 2004, spent about 300 million dollars.
Then, the X-51 was coupled to the first strategic bomber Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, which rose to a height of 15 km, where hypersonic aircraft unhooked, including rocket engines and reached a speed of half a minute 5310 km / h. However, the flight did not last long: the fuel was only enough for four minutes, after which the aircraft crashed into the ocean.
At the moment, the main problem is the development of the US military engine that could run for a long time. In addition, Americans are going to create an engine that can develop a speed of 10 600 km / h.
The pilot of the aircraft will experience tremendous overload, so the first hypersonic aircraft will be unmanned.
