The WAC has not yet received the conclusion on the thesis Medina – TASS

MOSCOW, February 7. /TASS/. Higher attestation Commission (HAC) has not received an official report on the dissertation of the Minister of culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky. TASS on Tuesday said the head of VAK Vladimir Filippov.

“Supreme attestation Commission under the Ministry of education has not received an official report on the thesis (Vladimir) Medina of Lomonosov Moscow state University,” – said Filippov.

Chapter WAC added that he would be able to comment on the issues relating to the consideration of this thesis, after obtaining the official conclusion of the academic Council of MGU.

Earlier today the Dean of the history faculty of Moscow state University Ivan Tuchkov told TASS that the dissertation Council of the faculty of history of Lomonosov Moscow state University found no grounds to revise the thesis of Medinsky.

At the same time, the press Secretary to the Minister Irina Kaznacheeva said that Medina is ready for any scientific discussion, concerning his thesis.

In early October, dissertation Council of the Ural Federal University (Urfu) was to consider the statement on deprivation of a scientific degree Medina. However the meeting was postponed at the request of the Minister in connection with the impossibility of its presence in Yekaterinburg.

Later, the media reported that the HAC withdrew addressed in the dissertation Council of the Ural Federal University the consideration of the case about deprivation of the Minister of culture for a degree. The head of the Commission explained that expired two months a statement to the academic Council. It was reported that the Commission now needs to choose another academic Council, which will consider the case. The Presidium of the HAC on November 25 instructed the dissertation Council of the historical faculty of Moscow state University. Lomonosov consider the thesis of Medina.

In April, a member of the community “Discerned” Ivan Babitsky had applied to the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation statement with the request to deprive Medina of a scientific degree due to the fact that his thesis “Problems of objectivity in the coverage of Russian history in the second half of the XV – XVII centuries”, according to the applicant, “has no scientific value”.
