British scientists have predicted a two-year record heat – Lenta.ru

The next two years on Earth will be the hottest in history, according to the UK Met Office. It is reported by Reuters.

The forecast British scientists were given two months prior to the event in Paris, the United Nations, dedicated to global climate change. The meeting is expected to representatives of about 200 countries. According to the researchers, the “break” in the warming over and several factors will lead to further global warming.

According to the UN, in 2013, climatologists said the slow growth of the average temperature of the Earth since 1998. However, the next, in 2014, it turned out to be the hottest according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. It also reaffirmed the World Meteorological Organization of the United Nations.

According to the forecasts of the British scientists, the behavior of the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans suggests that the current year It will be the warmest. The greatest contribution to warming will make the El Niño phenomenon (El Nino) – fluctuations in surface water temperature in the equatorial Pacific, the region in which the heated water is moving east. For example, the hottest years of the last century (1998 th) was marked by a strong El Niño event.

However, Adam Skayfi (Adam Scaife), co-author of the report of the scientists pointed out that natural factors crowned human impact – are added to the anthropogenic contribution to warming. At the same time the impact of El Niño is much stronger and overrides all the above factors.

The main purpose of the UN climate agreement is to prevent the increase in the average temperature of the Earth by more than two degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels (1880). Warming may lead to climate change, which cause catastrophic change: poor harvests, drought, storms and rising sea levels.
