At the moment, the domestic navigation system GLONASS accuracy is not inferior to Western counterpart GPS. In addition, Roskosmos promised to improve the performance of GLONASS satellites that term positive impact on the characteristics of the service.
At the moment, the GLONASS system determines the location of the object with an accuracy of up to 2.8 meters. At the same time, the western GPS navigation system gives the minimum error of 6-8 meters on modern devices. The superiority of the domestic navigation system can be seen with the naked eye. However, despite the low accuracy is not, by the end of 2015 it is planned to increase the positioning accuracy of up to 1.4 meters, and by 2020 – up to 0.6 meters with a further adjustment to 10 cm. This will allow to navigate even in small rooms.
Federal Space Agency with the support of the Ministry of Defense have plans to modernize the navigation system. They plan to replace old satellites and increase the productivity and accuracy of GLONASS. The new satellites will allow real-time tracking of moving objects with minimal delay. At this point, Research Institute of Applied Telematics specialists have developed a unique solution for the navigation industry – a system of remote monitoring of complex engineering objects, which in real-time monitors displacement structures of road transport infrastructure and landslide geomassivov (in postprocessing with an accuracy of 4-5 mm) allowing not only to respond to the occurrence of abnormal and emergency situations, but also to predict them in advance in a timely manner to determine the occurrence of defects in road constructions.
