American scientists on the verge of creating an effective cure for Alzheimer’s disease – Turkey Tourism News

Research Group School of Medicine at Duke University in the US said that laboratory tests confirmed the possibility of establishing an effective drug for the prevention and treatment cure Alzheimer’s disease. New drugs are developed for many years, he was able to fight with the formation of beta-amyloid plaques at the level of immunity.

Alzheimer's disease

In Alzheimer’s disease the immune cells in the brain do not work correctly, producing a molecule that lowers the immune response. The disease does not allow the body to fight alone with the formation of beta-amyloid plaques, which are located between brain cells and prevent them from functioning normally. Developed a drug blocks the effects of harmful molecules and stops the formation of plaques.

The study, based on experiments with laboratory mice (their immune system is very similar to human), showed that in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease certain cells of the immune system that normally protect the brain begin to absorb the essential amino acids arginine. Scientists have found that blocking this process with the help of the drug difluoromethylornithine prevents the accumulation of sticky protein, or plaques in the brain and memory loss – two important symptom of the disease.

The researchers found that the cell class microglia – a specialized class of glial cells of the central nervous system, which act as phagocytes, destroying infectious agents and destroys nerve cells – are active participants in the development of senile dementia, or dementia.

Observations of guinea mice have shown that the earlier start to use the drug (for early stages of the disease), the easier it is the body’s response to the drug, and the faster the visible improvements.
