The Chinese archaeologists have discovered a fragment of a skull, which probably belonged to the Buddha (Siddhartha Gautama). Bone was hidden inside a gold casket, one – in silver. They were kept in a small copy of the stupa. On the opening of reports Live Science.
The researchers found a stupa, which is about a thousand years, in the crypt under the Buddhist temple in Nanjing (East China). This artifact is 117 centimeters in height and a width of 45 was kept in an iron box, and that – in a stone chest. In addition to the bones of the skull, gold casket contained three crystal vessel and silver box containing the relics of other Buddhist saints.

Judging by the engraved hieroglyphics, it was created under the emperor Chen Tsung Song (ruled 997-1022 years) dynasty. The parietal bone is kept in one of the churches which had been destroyed during the war through 1400 years. Emperor Chen-tsung offered to restore it. Buddhist monks dug up the bones and other relics of the saints, and reburied them July 21, 1011 during a ceremony. On the authenticity of the remains of Buddha, Chinese sources do not report.
In 2015, Dutch scientists have found a mummy inside a Buddhist monk statues of XI-XII centuries in the CT scan. According to Buddhist Erik Bruijn (Erik Bruijn), it belongs to the master Lyutsyuanyu known representative of the school of Chan Buddhism.
