The scientists on the other side of the ocean have come to the conclusion that the cancer is able to destroy the inside poison wasps. It is not clear until it was just how it happens. Gap recently managed to make up for a scientist from the University of Leeds. Poison proved to be able to calculate the diseased cells and “beat” sighting. On the surface of the cell it creates a kind of a film of phospholipids. It is noteworthy that in healthy cells the same substance “live” inside. Then, the poison kills the cancer cell, splitting membrane. Eventually, the cancer cell is killed. Healthy cells, while, in complete safety – “Wasp” simply did not notice.

The discovery, according to the authors of the study, will allow to develop drugs that are effective in fighting cancer. And they, according to experts, there will be side effects, like chemotherapy. It should be noted, is not the only such a study, which fight over the principle of “safe chemicals” and “work” drugs only diseased cells. Kazan scientists, including working on a cure for the cancer that can destroy cancer cells without damaging healthy ones. At the heart of the drug – enzymes of microorganisms, and studies conducted in the laboratory of the Kazan Federal University “pathogenesis markers” together with colleagues from the Institute of Molecular Biology and the Engelhardt Institute of Biochemistry in Giessen. The project is Head of the Department of Microbiology CFI Olga Elias.

– Our specialists work with microbial ribonuclease produced by the bacteria Bacillus pumilus, it was called binase, – told in the press service of the university. – Voosche some antiviral properties of this enzyme were able to identify in the days of the Soviet Union. Today it became clear that binase can selectively destroy cancer cells without damaging healthy.

The basis for unique research already. It remains only to understand what exactly cancer cells destructive can affect ribonuclease. It has long been known that there is no universal chemotherapy. Often, a medicine suitable for destroying a specific type of tumor cells and also has no effect on other related cell types. Because at this stage microbiologists set themselves the task to identify oncogenes that could become a target for the action of the enzyme.

– We have already proved the effectiveness of binase effects on tumor cells producing oncogenes such as RAS, KIT and AML1- ETO, – says Olga Elias. – And that’s a large part of the work. Oncogene RAS, for example, is found in most types of tumor cells. A maximum likelihood we can talk about the effectiveness of ribonuclease Bacillus pumilus in the treatment of blood cancer, particularly acute myeloid leukemia.
