Speaking at the presentation of the program, the cost of which is estimated at 64 million pounds, Professor Stephen Hawking said: «Perhaps, somewhere in outer space some intelligent beings guess that means activity in our sector of space; maybe we really are alone in the universe – no matter what the answer, but the question of the existence of extraterrestrial life is the most important issue in the exploration of space. The principal difference Breakthrough Initiatives from previous similar programs will be its scope: scanning will cover ten times the area of ​​the cosmic ether, increase the speed readings of one hundred times and five times to increase the range of radio frequencies.
