Scientists: at the first brown dwarf found a spot-storm – commander

Astronomers from the American University of Delaware with telescopes “Kepler” and “Spitzer” was first found in the brown dwarf W1906 + 40 spot, which is raging strong hurricane .

According to experts, before the spot-like storms were observed only in the gas giants. For example, a similar storm, called the Great Red Spot, raging on Jupiter for over 350 years. By the way, the Great Dark Spot on Neptune disappeared in 1994, a few years after its discovery.

As for the W1906 + 40, there is a storm, according to the astronomers, has lasted at least two years – before any spots on the brown dwarf has not been revealed.

According to the scientists, brown dwarfs are something between a planet and a star. Light up as a full-fledged light brown dwarf can not, because its mass is insufficient and the temperature is in the range 300-3000 Kelvin.

Interestingly, the original brown dwarfs called black dwarfs, and were classified as dark substellar objects free-floating in space and with too little mass to maintain a stable fusion reaction. Currently, however, called black dwarfs, astronomers cooled and therefore do not emit (or low emissivity) in the visible range of white dwarfs. Black dwarfs are the final stage in the evolution of white dwarfs in the absence of accretion – the process of weight gain celestial body by the gravitational attraction of matter to him from the environment.

According to the researchers, the storm on the W1906 + 40 “has been going on for at least within two years, and possibly longer. ” Researchers concluded that the storm makes a complete revolution with substars nine hours.
