Today Deputy Prosecutor of Novosibirsk instituted against the director FGBUK “NGATOiB” 66-year-old Boris Mezdricha and 30-year-old (the director) Timothy Kuljabina an administrative offense under Part 2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation st.5.26 – deliberate public desecration of religious or theological literature , objects of religious veneration, signs or emblems ideological symbols and paraphernalia or their damage or destruction. This was reported on the site of the Novosibirsk regional prosecutor’s office.

The sanction part 2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation st.5.26 is punishable by an administrative fine on citizens in the amount of 30 thousand rubles to 50 thousand rubles, or community service for up to 120 hours. In respect of officials of the penalty – from 100 thousand to 200 thousand rubles.

In addition, the investigating authority undertake criminal proceedings check on the appeals of citizens and members of the public are considered staging the play as insulting religious feelings of believers.

One and a half weeks ago, Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon meeting journalists complained about the non-believers’ rights occurring in the region – it is reported social activists. One recent example, he cited the staging of Wagner’s “Tannhauser” in which, in the opinion of the Lord, the church symbols used for other purposes.

According to him, he turned to the regional governor Vladimir Gorodetsky and the prosecutor’s office in the region asking them to check the performance in order to identify violations of the rights of the Orthodox. “In the letter I pointed out that the statement violated the rights of people who believe that the church symbolism in this opera is used for other purposes. Religious people are outraged, write letters and call, ask to assist in compliance with the laws of the Russian Federation”, – said the Metropolitan of Novosibirsk and Berdsk Tikhon.

opera “Tannhauser” was first presented at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theater on December 20.
