NASA astronauts completed their work in open space – RIA Novosti

WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 – RIA Novosti, Maria Chaplygin. American astronauts ISS successfully completed the work in outer space and back to the station, NASA said on Saturday.

Over 6 hours and 40 minutes Barry Wilmore and Terry Verts, for which this is the first spacewalk, were working on the preparation for future ISS docking with the manned American vehicles. 8 astronauts paved cable length of about 100 meters for future connections to the ISS.

“The success !!! All tasks (set for today) and one extra made during today’s release” – NASA said on his Twitter account .

It is planned that 25 February and 1 March Wilmore and Verts will make two spacewalks to complete the preparatory work for the installation created by Boeing docking port. According to the plans of NASA, it will be delivered to the ISS in June aboard the space truck Dragon.

Initially spacewalk was to be held on Friday, but was postponed due to the need for additional security checks spacesuits. Problem with the cooling system suits were identified during regular audits of the crew members in December and January. Detail of one of the suits has been replaced by the crew, and the second was delivered to the station in January. As reported in Saturday’s leading live NASA’s Rob Navias today spacesuits astronauts are in excellent condition.

Serious concerns about the reliability of US spacesuits emerged after in July 2013 during a spacewalk Italian astronaut Luke Parmitano in his helmet began to flow water.
