The impact of the full moon on human behavior is a myth – the scientists – with Mail.Ru

Scientists have conducted a study in which watched as 5812 children of different ages, races, from different backgrounds, with different levels of education and income to respond to the full moon, new moon and the different phases of the moon. Scientists have focused on children because they are more susceptible to swings in mood and require much more sleep, and, therefore, a violation of his regime will be stronger impact on their mood and health.

The researchers observed the children in over 28 months. In the study, researchers found that, except for a slight reduction in sleep duration (five minutes or 1%) during the full moon, the moon does not affect the behavior or mood of children.

As one of the authors of the study Jean-Philippe Shapyu, “our results are convincing arguments in favor of the fact that the moon does not affect the person’s behavior. The only significant change is that a 1% shift in the duration of sleep, but it can be explained by the fact that many people took part in our study. In general, I think that we should not worry about the full moon and transformation in “werewolf”. Our behavior is largely influenced by genes, education, income, and other social things than the gravitational forces generated by the interaction of the Earth and its companion. »

Earlier, the scientists said that the phases of the moon affect the level of rainfall in the world . Full Moon over the ground leads to increased pressure in the upper atmosphere and increasing the temperature in its lower layers. The warm air contains more moisture and leads to increased precipitation. Geophysicists have come to the conclusion that the full moon increases the amount of rainfall by about one percent.
