Scientists from Harvard University have created a “invincible” robot – Rosbalt.RU

CAMBRIDGE, September 10. A team of scientists from Harvard University, demonstrated the capabilities of the soft robot in the video posted in YouTube. Video shows how the invention is tested by fire, cold, and even the wheels of the car.

According to the information portal NewScientist, frameless robot has a “record” compared with the previous “walk,” on the ground models, length – 65 inches .

The increased size allows to fix on the back of the robot battery, feed him for two hours, an air compressor that controls pneumatics, resulting in movement of the device, and a video camera, says “RG”.

The experiments showed that the robot can move at temperatures up to minus 9 degrees Celsius, to overcome drifts for 20 seconds to maintain the flame and pressure wheels. The material from which manufactured the device, is also resistant to water and acid.

Soft robots are of interest for search and rescue missions, especially in situations where it is necessary to make some manipulations in confined spaces. In the near future, the inventors plan to increase the movement speed of the robot and its mobility, as well as to program it to overcome the obstacles encountered on the way.
