MOSCOW, December 12 – RIA Novosti. The Russian-Ukrainian launch vehicle “Zenit-2SB” successfully launched on orbit space laboratory “Electro-L” №2, told RIA Novosti the Russian Space Agency.
“The launch vehicle of the middle class,” Zenit-2SB “at a specified time successfully launched the calculated orbit spacecraft” Electro-L ” №2 “, – the source said.
” Zenit-2SB “- the Russian-Ukrainian rocket carrier of the middle class, which is manufactured in the factory” Pivdenmash “in Dnepropetrovsk in the Ukraine. Currently, the production of rockets class of “Zenith” suspended due to the difficult situation in the Ukrainian economy and the termination of cooperation with Russia.
Observation element
The spacecraft remote sensing “ELECTRO -A “№2 equipped with the latest scanner MSU-GS developed in JSC” Russian Space Systems “, which allows to obtain high-quality images of all of the visible disk of the Earth for operational hydro-meteorological observation.
The new camera is designed to provide timely with orbit information on the state of the atmosphere, soil and water of the Earth. It will help to monitor the emergence and development in the eastern hemisphere emergencies – typhoons, tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, fires, volcanic activity and other natural hazards.
MSU-GS exceeds the capabilities of the device similar spacecraft “ELECTRIC A “№1, launched into Earth orbit in 2011: the number of sensitive elements in infrared photodetectors increased six times, increased bandwidth of the optical system is significantly increased radiometric temperature measurement accuracy.
Predicting solar activity
The second satellite of the series “Electro-L” is also installed on-board radio engineering complex (BRTK) heliogeophysical hardware system and on-board data acquisition system (BSSD), created in the “Russian space systems”.
The complex BRTK used for high-speed transmission of meteorological and heliogeophysical information to Earth, collecting and relaying data from ground-based observation platforms, relaying signals from emergency beacons COSPAS-SARSAT system, as well as for data exchange between terrestrial centers of Roshydromet. The complex consists of more than 20 types of high-frequency devices Russia’s development.
The hardware complex “Electro-L” №2 will conduct global monitoring heliogeophysical parameters for monitoring and forecasting of solar activity, the radiation situation, the state of the magnetic field, diagnosis and monitoring the magnetosphere, ionosphere and upper atmosphere.
On-board data acquisition system is used to receive information from the scanner and heliogeophysical appliance, as well as operational control information, buffering it in the memory array and the formation of traffic data transmission via radio BRTK.
To be continued
According to the plans of the Russian Space Agency, Space System “Electro-L” in the long term be supplemented by three other spacecraft. In 2017 scheduled launch of the “Electro-L” №3, in the years 2019-2020 will go into orbit two meteorological satellite “Electro-L” №4 and “Electro-L” №5, onboard equipment that continues to evolve today at RKS.
The spacecraft will be located at the points standing 14,5 ° west, 76 ° and 166 ° east longitude, in the zone of radio visibility of ground receiving stations of Roshydromet in Moscow, Novosibirsk and Khabarovsk.
