More than half of Russians believe that in the case of national threat or the possibility of mass protests in the country should be completely off the Internet, follows from a survey conducted by VTsIOM.
The full version of the report prepared by VTsIOM together with American experts, the organization intends to publish on Monday. However, the agency TASS received the text ahead of time.
According to the agency, 49% of Russians were in favor of censorship on the Internet, while 58% of respondents are ready to disconnect it in case of destabilization of the situation in the country. However, only 11% of respondents were in favor of complete freedom in the network.
In addition, 73% of respondents believe that the network is not necessary to publish negative information about state employees and 42% – that other States use the Internet against Russia and its interests.
Total internet regularly use 24% of the respondents. Another 20% of respondents said they go online several times a week. The remaining 38% of respondents in the past six months, did not use the Internet.
The survey involved 42 adult residents of the regions of Russia. Statistical error sociologists estimated at 3,1-4%.
